The work of the Bank’s legal department is focused on securities, corporate and regulatory law. Reporting to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, the Legal Assistant position is responsible for supporting the legal department with a wide variety of administrative and clerical duties.

Some key responsibilities include:

• Assist in maintenance of minute books, corporate records and records of Board meetings
• Maintain CASL Unsubscribe lists
• Updating and maintaining VersaBank Policy & Procedure Manuals
• Assist with preparation of regulatory reports and general research
• Assist in the typing of correspondence, letters, photocopying, and other draft documents, as required
• Maintain internal and external document storage and general filing
• Open mail, deliver faxes, couriers and telephone messages as quickly as possible

This position will appeal to a self-starter with an attention to detail who is committed to learning and thrives in a very busy, dynamic and technology-oriented environment. You are a team player and are comfortable interacting with co-workers, executives and Board members.

Your background includes a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field plus at least 1-2 years of applicable experience. You have superior written and verbal communication skills, take initiative when appropriate and work well independently. You also possess strong attention to detail, have strong work ethic and are comfortable managing competing priorities. The ideal candidate will be tech savvy and have a strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel, along with a variety of online applications and websites.
