We are currently recruiting for a full-time Junior Law Clerk. This is a one-year term position with the potential to become permanent. The work of the Bank’s legal department is focused on securities, corporate and regulatory law. Reporting to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, the Junior Law Clerk position is responsible for supporting the legal department with a wide variety of administrative and compliance duties.

Some key responsibilities include:

•Assist in maintenance of minute books, corporate records and records of Board meetings
•Maintain CASL Unsubscribe lists
•Updating and maintaining VersaBank Policy & Procedure Manuals
•Assist with preparation of regulatory reports and general research
•Assist in the typing of correspondence, letters, photocopying, and other draft documents
•Maintain internal and external document storage and general filing
•Assist with the development and implementation of regulatory compliance management processes and reporting requirements
•Managing the quarterly compliance reporting system
•Assist with staying current on new and revised legislative requirements that the Bank is subject to and ensuring that legislative requirements are embedded into the Bank’s policies and procedures

This position will appeal to a self-starter with an attention to detail who is committed to learning and thrives in a very busy, dynamic and technology-oriented environment. You are a team player and are comfortable interacting with co-workers, executives and Board members.

Your background includes a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field plus at least 1-2 years of related experience. You have superior written and verbal communication skills, take initiative when appropriate and work well independently. You also possess strong attention to detail, have strong work ethic and are comfortable managing competing priorities. The ideal candidate will be tech savvy and have a strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel, along with a variety of online applications and websites.
